Some notes from "The Well"
Below are some notes from a thing I'm putting together called "The Well" - basically just dwellings
On Hopes
Dwell on what you want from your life. You may find that many of your hopes are already fulfilled. It may be the case that you are only just realising your dreams. If this is true then be careful to be honest with yourself. Be sure that your aims are truly yours and not those of the people around you. Only by walking your own path can you be sure of reality becoming what you really wish it to be.
On Walls
Walls can be good things. They protect you, your family and those around you from harsh weather and the dangers of the world outside.
However some walls can be there as an act of cruelty. Stopping you from walking your own path. In life we face many of these. How then to pass through them, by ladder, or strength, or by slowly shipping away at each brick? The choice is yours. If when following your path, you hit a wall never walk around it. Break through somehow. This is a test and it is up to you to decide how you achieve it.
On falling in love
Alone. You meet another soul. Then suddenly there is light everywhere. Hope, a new found belief in life. This is love. Simple. Go with it.
On the size of ideas
On the beach, you can pick up a pebble or a hand full of sand. I feel the pebble can be seen as a "big idea", like God, humanity or love, whereas the sand can be like the constituent parts of the greater whole. In the awareness of small things, grains of sand for example, you can find pebbles in your own life. Be sure of the detail. It is this that creates the beach that is your life.
On beautiful thoughts
If you have a beautiful thought. Share it. Before you do though, cherish it. Thoughts like these have a life of their own. You need to let them fly. If nurtured they will grow.
Take your time with these unexpected ideas and be sure not to pass them on to others until you truly understand their meaning.
On quiet spaces
If you find yourself in a quiet place then take the time to stay there for a while. It can be difficult sometimes to remain in such a place. Use it to let you allow your true self to rise from within.
It is in these moments that you are probably nearer to your own truth than at any other.
On the nature of compassion
Everyone has the ability to empathise. The awareness of the feelings of others. Some folk hide this behind prejudice and hate. Others are more interested in looking after themselves. It is good though, to spend time caring for the people you meet and try to understand their needs. In doing this it is possible to have a truer understanding of their lives and through this a greater awareness of yourself. Compassion is one of the true virtues.
